Are you tired of Internet Explorer? Are you the least bit of a fan of Firefox? If you are, then you need to check out the new Flock browser. Flock is a new web browser that is built on the Mozilla Firefox code. This browser specifically specializes in providing social networking and Web 2.0 facilities built straight into its user interface. The latest version of the browser, Flock 2 (based on Firefox 3), went into beta on June 16th of 2008.

o The Flock browser supports Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux platforms, and is available as a free download.

o Flock has internal features that allow sharing of videos, photos, text, and links.

o Flock has its own “media bar” allowing you the ability to preview online videos and photos, and subsription to photo and video feeds.

o Flock’s feed reader can organize RSS and Atom feeds.

o Flock can tell you when friends have uploaded photos or other items, or have even updated their profile.

o Flock also allows for much of the same third-party add-ons that you can get with Firefox extensions.

o With Flock, you can drag and drop videos and pictures from the webclipboard and the mediabar into a new email message.

o Flock integrates a few social netorking and media services such as Youtube, Twitter, Facebook, Gmail, Yahoo Mail, Blogger, etc.

When you log into any of these social networks or services, Flock automatically activates these services within some of those features just mentioned.

Flock has won a few awards, even though it is still in Beta. I absolutely love it, but in saying that, it has been a little buggy for me. A couple of the bugs for me have been in the downloads area and getting the acrobat reader to work has been trying. It keeps telling me that it cannot launch the acrobat reader for some reason. I also have a favorite website that I go to everyday to check on news with my favorite college football team. With this particular site, you can hover over some of the drop down menus and then click on any of the subjects within that dropped down menu and continue your search. For some reason, the Flock browser will not let you do that. I can’t do it in Firefox 3 either. That is about the only time that I use Internet Explorer anymore.

In conclusion, I really like this browser. It is very handy, especially if you are into social networking. I can’t wait until they get all of the bugs worked out. It is a free download, and if you would like to try it out (I don’t get any kickback), then go to my website below. Have a great day!
